Single Point Moorings Equipment according to 2007 OCIMF Recommendations
NEW OCIMF Recommendations
Posidonia have been manufacturing chains stoppers and fairleads for thirty years, according to the "Recommendations for Equipment Employed in
the Mooring of Ships at Single Point Moorings" (the 3rd edition is dated 1993).
The above edition foresaw that every tanker likely to trade with SPM's should be equipped with chain stoppers and fairleads:
- for ships 150.000 t or less 1 pc SWL 200 t
- for ships over 150.000 but not greater than 350.000 t DWT 2 pcs SWL 200 t
- for ships over 350.000 t DWT 2 PCS swl 250 t [yeld point 1,5 SWL]
On May 2007 OCIMF issued a fourth edition of the Recommendations that changed
for new ships - after 1st january 2009:
- for ships 100.000 t or less 1 pc SWL 200 t
- for ships over 100.000 but not greater than 150.000 t DWT 1 pc SWL 250 t
- for ships over 150.000 t DWT 2 pcs SWL 350 t [Yeld point 2,0 SWL]
