Our anchors are built in Italy by certified personnel, mostly from welded sheet metal. Within our workshops we offer everything from the painting booth to all the tools for carrying out non-destructive testing. Thanks to our skilled workers, we can also create anchors that are not found on the website.Do you need a custom anchor? We can produce it.
Thanks to our internal pull test, we can have our anchors certified by all IACS entities and all national and international naval and river registries.
There is no "best" anchor in absolute terms, as the choice of anchor depends on the size and type of boat, wind and sea conditions, type of bottom, and other factors. In any case, it is important to choose a good quality anchor of suitable shape for your type of boat and the conditions of the sea bottom.
Additionally, it is important to use the right connecting accessory and the right amount of chain or rope to secure the anchor to the boat and ensure its maximum efficiency.
At Posidonia, we can advise you on which anchor, connecting accessory, and chain/rope is right for your boat. Moreover, we are capable of building custom anchors to meet every need, designing and building them in our workshop in Novi Ligure with simulations of pull-up tests and 3D models.
The weight of an anchor depends on the size and weight of the boat or vessel you want to anchor, the type of seabed, and the wind and sea conditions. Generally, the anchor should be heavy enough to hold the boat firmly on the seabed in normal wind and sea conditions.
The general rule is that the anchor should weigh about 1 kg per foot of boat length. For example, if you have a 30-foot boat, the anchor should weigh about 30 kg as specified by the "Armament Module" (EN) table. However, if you sail in waters with strong currents or winds, or on very hard or very soft seabeds, you may need to use a heavier anchor. This is a general rule, but each boat has its unique shape, and we can suggest the anchor weight and shape that is most suitable for your boat.
At Posidonia, we can provide you with HHP anchors, which are high holding power anchors that reduce the weight of an anchor by 25% without reducing its holding power, and SHHP anchors, which are ultra-high holding power anchors that reduce the weight of an anchor by 50%.
The best accessory to connect the chain to the anchor depends on the type of chain and anchor being used. At Posidonia, we are able to provide you with the most suitable connection accessory for the anchor and chain you wish to use. Give us a call for consultation, we will be happy to provide you with all the information you need.
