For mooring/emergency towing according to OCIMF Recommendations

Why choose Posidonia chains

Choosing the right chain for mooring or naval towing is important to ensure safety and reliability. A high-quality chain of the right size guarantees a secure grip on the anchor, resistance to stress and corrosion, and a longer lifespan.

Our 100 years of experience in mooring allows us to have contacts with the best producers and obtain the best prices. We have seen many factories born and grow in their production.

Thanks to our in-house pull test, we can have our chains certified by all IACS entities and all national and international naval and river registers.

FAQ
How long should the chain be?

The length of the anchor chain is important to ensure a secure grip on the seabed. In general, it is recommended to use at least 6 times the water depth of chain to anchor safely. The chain should be long enough to allow the anchor to penetrate the seabed and ensure a secure grip.
Check the length of your chain with our connection scheme.

What weight should my chain have?

The anchor chain must be heavy enough to keep the anchor on the seabed. A chain that is too light or thin may not be able to hold the anchor in place, causing the boat to drift.

How to take care of the anchor chain and make it last long?

The anchor chain is a crucial element for the safety of your vessel. Extending its lifespan means ensuring peace of mind during your outings at sea. Here are some practical tips:

  • Inspect the chain frequently to identify any signs of wear, rust, or damage. Do not underestimate the importance of regular inspection!
  • After each use, take care of your chain by washing it with fresh water to remove salt and dirt. Removing salt is essential to prevent corrosion.
  • Lubricate the chain with a specific product for marine chains, creating a protective barrier against atmospheric agents.
  • Check the tension of the chain and adjust it if necessary, ensuring it is always securely fastened.

With proper maintenance, your chain will accompany you for many seasons at sea, providing the safety you need during your voyages.
