ATLAS ANCHOR powered by ARGUS

POSIDONIA engineering. ARGUS intelligence.

Real-time anchor monitoring and early detection of potential anchor dragging

ATLAS ANCHOR combines Posidonia's expertise in stockless anchor engineering with ARGUS AnchorTag's advanced monitoring technology.

An integrated anchoring solution designed to provide real-time information about anchor behaviour beneath the surface, improve operational awareness and support informed decision-making during anchoring operations.

THE CHALLENGE

Do you really know what your anchor is doing beneath the surface?

During anchoring operations, the actual behaviour of the anchor is not directly visible to the crew.

Conventional monitoring methods rely primarily on vessel movement and position. However, changes in anchor orientation, holding conditions or movement may occur before they become apparent through the vessel's position alone.

Knowing how the anchor behaves is essential for evaluating its holding performance and identifying potential dragging conditions.

ATLAS ANCHOR helps bridge the gap between what happens on the seabed and what the crew can monitor on board.

THE SOLUTION

One integrated system. Anchor engineering and real-time intelligence.

ATLAS ANCHOR brings together two complementary areas of expertise:

POSIDONIA — ANCHOR ENGINEERING

Design and manufacturing expertise in stockless anchoring systems for demanding marine applications.

ARGUS AnchorTag — MONITORING TECHNOLOGY

Advanced acoustic and wireless technology designed to measure and transmit information about the anchor's orientation and movement.

Together, they provide an integrated anchoring and monitoring solution that helps the crew better understand anchor behaviour throughout anchoring operations.

A complete solution, supplied as one system

ATLAS ANCHOR is supplied as an integrated Posidonia anchor and ARGUS monitoring system.

The anchor and monitoring technology are not offered as separate products within the ATLAS ANCHOR solution.

However, the anchor configuration can be designed according to the technical requirements of the vessel and the intended application.

Our technical team can work with you to evaluate the anchoring requirements and define the most suitable integrated configuration.

HOW ATLAS ANCHOR WORKS
Posidonia anchor engineering and ARGUS AnchorTag technology provide real-time operational information about anchor behaviour.

01 — ACOUSTIC TRANSMITTER

Mounted into the stockless anchor shank
The transmitter measures anchor orientation and movement and transmits the data acoustically.

02 — MAGNETIC RECEIVER

Installed near the gypsy or riding chock
The receiving system collects the data transmitted through the anchor chain.

03 — WIRELESS MONITOR

Handheld or integrated bridge display
Real-time anchor status, historical data and alerts provide useful information to support anchoring operations.

WHAT DOES ATLAS ANCHOR MONITOR?

Anchor Roll

The roll angle provides information about anchor behaviour and its ability to maintain a secure hold.

Anchor Pitch

Changes in pitch may indicate shifts in anchor orientation as load is applied.

Movement Speed

The system detects anchor movement speed during setting, potential dragging and repositioning.

Anchor holding condition

Analysis of the measured parameters helps identify potential changes in anchor holding conditions.

Recorder Data

Recorded data can be reviewed and downloaded for subsequent analysis.

KEY BENEFITS
  • Real-time monitoring: Data on anchor inclination and movement speed provide greater visibility into the behaviour of the anchor beneath the surface.
  • Early dragging detection: Changes in measured parameters can help identify potential dragging conditions and support timely intervention.
  • Improved operational awareness: Information directly from the anchor complements conventional monitoring based on vessel movement.
  • Decision support for the crew: Real-time data help the crew assess anchor behaviour and take appropriate action when needed.
  • System integration: The technology is designed for installation on stockless anchors, with integration requirements evaluated according to the vessel and anchoring configuration.
  • Monitoring throughout anchoring: Visibility into anchor behaviour during setting, holding, potential dragging and repositioning.
