11.5 ton HHP Compact anchor for MSC Orchestra

In 2017 the cruise ship MSC Orchestra wore a new custom made anchor.

MSC had a narrow cubbyhole but required a heavy anchor.

MSC Orchestra is a cruise ship of the MSC Cruises company.

The ship is 293.8 m long, 32.2 meters wide, 59.64 meters high and has a tonnage of 92,409 GRT.

It has a crew of 987 and carries 3,013 passengers at maximum capacity.

The vessel was christened in Civitavecchia on 14 May 2007 by Sophia Loren in the presence of Ennio Morricone. She has three sister ships: MSC Musica, MSC Poesia and MSC Magnifica.

The filming for the Italian television film Crociera Vianello was carried out on the MSC Orchestra, as were the Kimbo Caffè commercials. A cruise on MSC Orchestra is also the prize in the Italia 1 Top One trivia game.

Our workshop located in Novi Ligure, Italy, has created not a mass anchor but an articulated fluke anchor with high anchoring power that saves 25% in weight and bulk. Its two side plates allow it to penetrate the ground and act in different directions, giving it super toughness. It also has the option of shortening the stem by 10% to take up even less space in the hawse.
