Finishing and polishing
Elettropolishing with micro peening
The purpose of electropolishing with micro peening
Electropolishing is a treatment to increase the corrosion resistance, cleanability, and smoothness of stainless steel, and it can significantly extend the life of the product up to 10 times. With the electropolishing treatment with micro peening, Posidonia can treat parts that are difficult to reach with other processes, making the surface of the anchor, chain, or deck equipment uniform in all its parts.
The finish is bright, the surface is smoothed, detensioned and passivated, and the surface roughness is reduced. The treatments are followed by the company and the finishes are the signature of our anchors, chains, and all the towing and mooring equipment that we design and produce in Novi Ligure.
What is electropolishing with micro peening?
- Electropolishing is an electrochemical process that removes a surface layer usually around 20/30 microns thick.
- In the electrochemical process for stainless steel, nickel and iron are removed more quickly, leaving the surface rich in chromium: this treatment improves the surface layer of stainless steel.
Posidonia’s certifications
- Where greater corrosion resistance is needed, such as at sea, electropolishing provides our anchors and chains with greater durability, as well as unparalleled beauty.
- The treatments are followed by the company and the finishes are the hallmark of our anchors, chains and all the towing and mooring equipment we design and produce in Novi Ligure.
