What is the Stopper for Anchor Chain?
Anchor stopper is designed to fix and secure the anchor chain once the anchor is stowen into the anchor pocket.
It prevents any problems related to the brake of the windlass and keeps it in safe condition by withstanding the weight of the anchor.
It's generally installed on the deck between the windlass and the hawsepipe.
Main Functions of the Anchor Chain Stopper
Essentially, the chain stopper is a safety locking system that:
- Supports the weight of the chain when the anchor is stowed in the hawsepipe
- Relieves the windlass from this constant load
- Ensures that the chain does not move during navigation
500 Ton Pull bench
Posidonia operates the largest test bench in the Mediterranean. It has a capacity of up to 500 tonnes, is nearly 30 meters long, and is calibrated annually by the "Politecnico di Milano." This calibration is witnessed and subsequently approved by Lloyd's Register of Shipping, the Italian Navy, and all other IACS Classification Societies.
Posidonia is also authorized to perform remote testing (RFA), a procedure approved by Lloyd's Register.
