Thanks to our skilled workers, we can also create anchors that are not found on the website.Do you need a custom anchor? We can produce it.
Thanks to our internal pull test, we can have our anchors certified by all IACS entities and all national and international naval and river registries.
There is no single "best" anchor overall, as the choice of anchor depends on various factors, including the type of vessel, the type of seabed, and environmental conditions.
However, it is important to choose a high-quality anchor that is suitable for your type of vessel and the conditions of the seabed. Additionally, using the correct connecting accessory and the appropriate amount of chain or rope is important to secure the anchor to the boat and ensure its maximum efficiency. Posidonia can provide all the necessary support to determine the most suitable type of anchor or the most appropriate connecting accessory and chain.
We are also able to design and build customized anchors to meet the specific needs of the client. The anchors are made by specialized personnel in our workshop in Novi Ligure (AL).
The weight of an anchor for marine navigation depends on the size and type of vessel, marine conditions, and the type of seabed where anchoring is anticipated. There are some general guidelines that can be followed, but it's also important to consider the specific recommendations of your boat's manufacturer. Generally, the anchor should be heavy enough to securely hold the boat on the seabed under normal wind and sea conditions.
A general rule is that the anchor should weigh about 1 kg per foot of boat length. For example, if you have a 30-foot boat, the anchor should weigh about 30 kg as regulated by the "Module of Armament" table (EN). However, if sailing in waters with strong currents or winds, or on very hard or very soft seabeds, it may be necessary to use a heavier anchor. This is a general guideline, but each boat has its unique shape, and Posidonia can suggest the anchor with the most appropriate weight and shape.
Posidonia can provide you with HHP anchors (High Holding Power) that reduce the weight of an anchor by 25% without reducing its holding power and SHHP anchors (Super High Holding Power) that reduce the weight of the anchor by 50%.
The best accessory for connecting the chain to the anchor depends on the type of chain and the type of anchor being used.
Posidonia has a team of experts who can advise on the most suitable connection for the anchor and chain you wish to use. Contact us for a consultation, we will be happy to provide you with all the information you need.
